Spaghetti Girl

Sick. Spaghetti Girl Drawing

I've felt cruddy for a week. Weaned off of Celexa and since I'd done this once before, I thought, hey! No problems. Well, the nausea and accompanying "flu-like symptoms" came, waxed and waned and I figured they'd wane for good after a week. It's 10 days out and last night I was in Urgent Care getting fluids and Phenergan IV from vomiting. Today has been better, but I've also taken Phenergan p.o. and felt slightly just out of body all day. My WBC's were up and so, there's the distinct possibility that my 'discontinuation syndrome' was also a sneaky wicked case of the stomach flu. Bleh. I've kept down gentle food today (chicken noodle soup, banana, crackers) and I am feeling better. Here's to hoping it lasts! So, as far as proud things for this week, since Effy Wild is doing a Swoon section on her blog, I only have this sketch and it's kinda old. It was made during the nine minutes the spaghetti was boiling, so she's Spaghetti Girl. Suzi Blu's "Soul Garden" class is starting sometime today. Thought it was 4:00 EST as was announced on one area of the classroom, but then it said 4:30...and is that CST? It's no biggie. Might have to nap through it. Wanted to use it to distract, but I'm pretty wimpy. Got one project done for myself, but can't go farther without info, so I'm waiting on a text or call. Anyway, my crazily decorated hardcover journal became my Soul Garden planner over the three ring binder and that's the way of it. Startled me. Also, if anyone sees it, it'll never pass for a planner, monthly or life. It has Aphordite IX on the front and Spawn on the back from a 2000 Previews. I'm sure it'll be arted and tarted more, but for now, it's not blank. I should capture a pic of it and use it for swooniness, but nah. Partially naked red women and Spawn just aren't the 'kitchy' pink and greenness of Soul Garden. TTFN. Damn, I missed Amber last night. Had such plans!!!

Neglectful Wench

I so neglect my blog...I'm not a huge FB'er like so many friends and family. I don't live via my iPhone and sometimes, I even feel guilty. But! Huge butt, but it's getting smaller...size 14-16 right now... I have been working on a huge granny blanket for Suzi Blu and I'm three squares from finishing. I have to sew it all together and do lots of awesome border around it, but I'm really pleased how the squares turned out. Half are solid squares, some are miter squares, some are grannies...and there are over 40 colors in it!
Note the awesome grandson in the pic. He helped me pick them all up and replace them in the project bag. I love him outrageously! I've drawn faces, working on Ady's Junk Journal class, waiting on Suzi to start her August the 1st class on keeping a date book/altered day minder...falling in love with classes I can't afford or have the willpower to do! Normal Morgan stuff. Amber is back! In less than a week, I will be Jesse for a few hours...and if I don't make some decisions, I'll still be the luckiest Amberite of them all. ART makes me feel good, even if I have to make it from my bed. Make something today. I promise you'll feel better. It won't take the pain away, but it momentarily dulls it. Or meditate! Mediation will give you a few blissful moments of peace. Blessings to all!

Crayolas!

Fodder

Untitled This week is all about procrastination and fodder. I'm killing two birds with one stone. I'm going through all of my mail, turning everything not associated with what I want into journal fodder and art layers for backgrounds, saving some of it for little books I'll make, and the rest is being recycled. I've never done this before, turning junk mail into fodder, but it's highly recommended. I also found a great biology book to decimate and I'm currently catching up with magazine pics in my portable file for use with art journaling and scrapbooking.

Got both of my knees stuck with goo for the final five of five visit at the rheumatologist's office and hopefully that's it for six months! Pain to reduce pain later. It's a fair trade. Also, these injections keep me out of the OR for knee replacement so far.

I'm still working on faces and venturing into the human body a bit. Wish me luck with my thousands of ideas and a daily fight with procrastination!

Canvasses and journals await! I've got two pages prepped for my novel ideas altered art journal and five other journals in the making. Enough jabbering. I'm going back to action!

BOOK OF DAYS!

I have found a wonderful art site called Book of Days by Effy Wild. Book of Days is a yearlong process that you can begin at any time and it's full of vids and .pdfs and tons of fun. I was shocked at the amazing amount of content. Where most classes that I've taken have, at most, one video per week or some, like Lifebook (which I love...) has a formal class every two weeks with interviews and such in between, Effy manages at least two videos a week and has Ustream/LiveStream once weekly and contains another adventure within the premium program for yet another video a week!

Amazing...

Most amazing of all, she has a large amt of content online for Basic Members who can follow along if they can't afford either the low monthly fee or the deal coming in June!

Her spreads are awesome. Her girls are beautiful. The content is great. (Yes, I can go on, but just go there and see! http://bookofdays.org)

Spending my evening enjoying Gulfsprite's vids! I have a few new art goodies, so I need to be acting, but I can't stop watching and learning for the moment...

I loved the recent rain.

Revitalization?

So, I need to get moving here. I'm once again creating art (of a sort) and crocheting again. I'm just too damn lazy to finish and then photograph. Yes...I'm a poor share buddy.

Hauls and Yarn and Jewelry and...

I went to A.C. Moore during their yarn sale days and scored some awesome yarns to make hats, baby things, amigurumi babies, and stuff. Four big canvasses and a huge lot of acrylics later (all at 50% off), I'm bound for painting a large, glorious tree through the four seasons. I scored some $1 jewelry parts so in a bit I hope to have three sets of earrings and a couple of necklaces or lots of silver-toned bracelets. I adore sterling, but it's so damned expensive!

I'm working on an owl hat for the baby (ck. out the owl hats on my Pinterest Crochet board) and the body of the hat is finished...the eyes, some side flaps and some tufts for the 'ears' are left...very simple parts. I want him to be comfy and such through the winter. He's still mostly bald and with my short hair and the cool days we've had, I can see where we both need hats. My hair is growing out like his, but...we're doomed for cold scalps for the winter.

Beyond that, some serious thrifting is in my future and major crocheting. I'll work in time to draw and sketch while I work on the Four Seasons.

Enough for now...Amber didn't happen last night so I have nada to report.

Sunday, September 11, 2011

I'm woefully behind on my sketches and my thoughts on what to sketch. I've got a jacked up art journal going now and one that was abandoned but that I'll likely pick up and start again in...soon. The one I'm working in now will fool you. It's great looking on the outside and weak on the inside. Weak! People...Weak!

Apologies to Jen for not sketching. I'll get back to it and catch up! I promise...*hugs*. Other than that, I've spent the morning sleeping and watching art vids. Wasted? Nah, since the Methotrexate has me tired and down. I'm headed to Holly's maybe and have some family time. I need a pick-me-up!

Day Four (Out of Sequence...Naturally)

Elbow Beach, Bermuda. Those are tiny peeps on the beach. The beach is pinkish and the waters are turquoise! The temps range from 50-80 during the day with ocean breezes (winter to summer temps) and at night, 50-65. The almost daily average is 70. Heaven on Earth.

Sketching Challenge Continues!

30 Day Sketching Challenge

Day Three: My Fav. Food...is spaghetti if you can't tell. Yes, it looks like a bowl of worms with space boulders sticking out, but...come on, there's a fork! The lighting sucked, so it's hazy. Maybe that's better? For absolute proof of it's goodness, I put it in a big bowl for how much I'd want to eat at any time! Yummy...Noms for the win!

Day Two of Sketching and a Hurricane

Day Two requires that I draw my favorite animal. I did a quick 15 min sketch of a cool Tabby only adding in big, big eyes! Important. All things should have big eyes. I later added whiskers over his eyes...duh.

Hurricane Irene is threatening my area. It's scary and yet...not...at the same time. I hope she's not a Hugo...

30 Days of Sketching!

Day One:
"Yourself" - here's a 10-min big-eyed doll sketch of me...in the midst of being thin. Note, I am idealistically and unrealistically thin! Googly-eyes and uneven lips - wait, why not?

30 Day Sketching Challenge

I'm not even able to cheat! I read today and let my back/knees rest...which lead to laziness.

30 Day Drawing Challenge

Jen has enticed me into doing a 30 day drawing challenge starting Monday, August 22, 2011...it looks good! I like that it's a doodle challenge. That'd a lot simpler for me. If I had to do 30 days of intricate or accurate sketches...there'd not be 30 in a month...too lazy, too distractible, too into my kids and grandson, too...a ton of things.

So fun to come!

Doll Dreams Basic by Adriana Almanza

Adriana Almanza's "Doll Dreams Basic" is on sale through August 1, 2011.

Doll Dreams Basic Class

I'm excited about taking the "Doll Dreams Basic Class" and learning how to draw beautiful dolls for art journaling. Jen started thinking about it and showed me that, through July, she was offering it for $30 dollars and then it was going up to $50 in August. I've seen her work on YouTube and went for viewing more over the weekend. I signed up and am excited about starting. Everything is downloadable, so you have time to study it at any time, any where. I thoroughly enjoyed the classes I took from Suzi Blu and I keep an eye out for other art vids (which I watch periodically).

So, as far as movies go, I'm caught up to "The Deathly Hallows, Part II". Now to convince myself I want to sit in the theatre for it. I loved "Captain America" at the IMAX, but I have to say, I can't get myself fired up for much. Last movie I saw was "Thor" and the seats at theatres aren't any softer or more comfortable for my back/knees.

So the blanket grows by spurts and leaps. So far, I have 11 12"x12" squares, all in subtle, mid-tone blues and greens. I hope it continues to grow. That way I'll have the next 25 squares (ahhh!) done and lots of left-overs for a shawl. Clean your plate!

Crochet - My Fav Pattern

I'm crocheting again and have some awesome things to show for it...scarves, hats, computer sleeves and I'm currently finishing up my favorite pattern for a blanket for a present! I have a couple of rows left on the outside and I'm really happy that it went so quickly. It's soft and verigated - easy to care for and sturdy.

Newsboy Hat

I finished the Red Heart Newsboy hat in 48 minutes on my first try. The pattern is super fast and easy and looks great. My first attempt was in a dark, dark brown - a little too dark to be photographed and posted here, but I'll work on a lighter one for show.

Word to the wise, the pattern runs small if you're on gauge.

Plans for Crafts

Gotta get my head together on things that I can do that aren't back-wrenching for gifts and such. Puts brains on high power. Other than that...I'm still sketching...getting my mixed media journals filled with various things. This one is destined for a journaling page.

Art Stuff and Crochet Possibility

Found a great little pattern through Ravelry for a shell patterned bag. I bought 2 lbs of 100% cotton mill ends for $9 today - a lovely teal, brown, verigated-ish yarn. The yarn was on sale for 2 for $9. I probably should've bought 4 skeins yesterday, but that was yesterday. The binomial decision maker didn't give me the heads up yesterday and I walked away. After pondering some bags, I managed to get it with Holly's help.

Art supplies...I had a 40% off coupon from AC Moore and almost bought an $18.99 set of Sharpie poster pens, but instead reigned in my need and settled for a couple of inexpensive, 100-lb bristal pads for $3/each after their in-store 40% off. I found a brayer and used my 40% off on that and whoot...came home with little money spent, but with a nice haul purchased. Toss in a bone folder, a key woobie, two Dover books - both Faeries (one stained glass coloring book and the other a faerie fashion book) for $1.91 each instead of the $6.99 Dover charges....and I'm pretty happy.

Altered Art and Crochet...I'm down to that for hobbies at the moment. Writing is a part of life, so I don't count it as a hobby, but more of a sanity shield.

Enjoy the pattern.

Crocheted Duffle Bag/Purse

Clicky on the title for a great duffle pattern. It was originally made from two strands of DK cotton but one strand of the bulkier cottons would work really well. I'm nervous about the zipper, so I'll probably continue on with my soft summer sling bag for now.

Crocheting

I'm enjoying crocheting with this lovely organic cotton. I'm making face scrubbies in my favorite square pattern and discovering the right hook to use with a heavier cotton than worsted weight.

The Art of Silliness 3.0

I joined Carla Sonheim's workshop for the month of January-February for a mere $25. She's the author of "Drawing Lab" and I love her easy-going style of learning art.

http://www.amazon.com/Drawing-Lab-Mixed-Media-Artists-Exercises/dp/1592536131

http://carlasonheim.wordpress.com/

Now that I've spammed you with everything wonderful about this lady's work, I'm here to say it's fun to have assignments ...even if they are cute and not torturously laborious. I'm sketching more and loving contour drawings all over again, even if they're in the margins of my journal and not in a valid sketchbook.

Limited other things to tell. I've had the crud for six days now and I think I'm finally making headway into "wellness land". However, I'm noticing the path is thorny and uphill. I had to miss my Methotrexate dose. That blows. I'll ache and hurt more than the cold and the rainy weather have tossed me into this week. Bleh. This, too, shall pass.

Writing tons in a cheap-ass, graph paper Composition book in Breast Cancer Relief pink. I'm hoping it turns out to be worthwhile. I've been working on this one 'book' since 1991. I should have 20,000 pages by now or well past 10 million words. Not. Sigh.

Photos and a new format coming soon!

Reviving Old Blogs for all new Reasons

Altered Art, Poetry, Crochet, original Jewelry, reusable materials...

I recently got a beloved turned on to altered art and a way to make it 'hers'. It's as if she's birthing all of her creative sides at 30...ready to sally forth into the rest of her existence. Holly is knitting for money, crocheting for fun and she's an amazing Mama. Life is messy here, but there are new roofs for the house and garage and the paint, Sashay Sand (? - not familiar with Sherwin Williams) is a match for the house and the valuable homemade brick from the old plantation.

If you decide to return to following me and my other blogs, one is definitely on my little business that now consists of Sacred Art and writing. I haven't thrown out jewelry, books, knitting, crocheting and self care products. Far from it...I'm refocusing. I'm disabled now and my energy is devoted to trying to get better and not to 'growing' a business. The Urban Gypsie is gone and has been for a coupla years..., but I still have a brain and I hope I can collect patterns for everyone, have a place to truly blog and to enjoy what I'm doing.

I can make lovely things even if it takes me 20 times longer. I can also inspire and cheer on anyone wanting to do these things with intriguing photos. Check out this link: http://www.wovenpurses.com/2009/12/hollywood-celebrities-going-gaga-over-gerard-darels-syracuse-24-hour-hand-knitted-bag/ I've got more photos of similar bags and every crocheter knows you can make some wicked things from excellent inspiration.

It's a goodnight for me at the moment, but I'm going to try to get word of this blog and whatnot back out again! Wish me luck!

Sucky back check and a TENS unit

Quick blogger note...of course I'm suspecting my Worker's Comp of trying to do bad things like keep me from getting my full $$, but that's common.

PT gave me a TENS unit. I don't know if i get to keep it. It hurts like hell at first, but for the rest of the half hour, it feels better.

If anyone else is having blogger issues, yell at me on myspace. Course, yesterday I couldn't load MySpace!

HI.

I'm still feeling pain in quantity, but I'll manage.

Returning to Leaves for a Today

In Hotlanta for Trent. Ummmm yummmmmmm.... Going in as a Spiral guest and listening to sound checks and stuff. Then I drive home at 0600 tomorrow which will suck, but not like it sucked to be awake for 36 hours or more yesterday. That really blew.

I'm still doing the MySpace thing and crocheting all the time and reading books alot lately. My journal is full of stupid shit, but I'm trying to be faithful and write something every day.

Even the most globular of writing is still writing. I'm hovering in debt.

I'm going to make some crocheted animals for the business, too. We're needing that income badly and it's kinda free $$. I have the supplies. I just need the incentive to behave and help set up the site.

Poverty is a disease that I hope my 60 mil lotto ticked bought on 666 will remedy.

Yarn HO

So far, I've collected approx. 300 crochet and knit books from my gimongous room and 17 55-gallon garbage bags of yarn. Yes. Seventeen. SEVENTEEN. Mwahhahahahah. She who dies with the most yarn...had better have offspring that warrent inheriting it (and I sooooo do. I have a Mini-Me Yarn Ho and she's sooo cute.)

Anyway, I have a headache, a house full of peeps working w/hammers and I wanna cry sobbing tears of woe. My money is depleted and i'm sooo uber f'ked but I'm groovin' to the new bookshelves and French doors (not that I like French doors, but it'd take NO wolf to have blown these puppies in).

I did, however, use my Jedi voice and got the delivery fee waived when they delivered late. $70 back in my pocket, mudderfudding losers at Lowe's who tried to rip me out of $200 bucks yesterday due to an idiotic cashier.

knitPro

Discovered knitPro courtesy of a new book I bought: The Happy Hooker. Between us all, we own the author's other books, but this one focuses on crochet, which is my favorite crafty, by far. Trust me, if I could find/figure out a way to make even $10K less a year than I do now as someone who did crafty/crochetey/fibery/beady things, I'd abandon my current profession, and take up the cause. The problem is, most women who can be "designers" have a husband who pays the bills. Trust me, that is not the case here.

If you click on my Title above, it will take you to microRevolt, the website where knitPro lives.

Ok, No More Plague Dreams....the last one was of a flood...and it was freaky.

I'm done with plagues.

Nightmares...

Crocheting Madness

Solid Grannies: The Ultimate Utilitarian Square

I've included some instructions below from a site by Pumamouse. She and I vary in several ways, but the look is identical. Here are my variations first.

First, I crochet only four chains to make my initial loop...I also crochet over the slip knot's tail and the tug on it before I secure it...that makes for a closed center.

I don't slip stitch to a corner and always start in a corner. I usually just chain 3 for the dc above where I slip stitched the round before closed and I'm careful to make each corner, not with 3dc ch2 3dc, but instead use 2dc ch2 2dc.

These solid grannies are wonderful for modular clothes, blankets, bags and more. If you like, you can make on huge one and have an afghan from hell that's just this huge, solid piece of material. I've been using my variation on this old pattern for about 20 years now and occassionally I get a yearning for a traditional granny and do one with shells and all those lovely little holes.

Current project:
A baby blanket for Stephanie. It's being made from this cool Red Heart discontinued yarn that I scrounged at AC Moore's mill ends bin. I got six 6oz. skeins for about $7. I have managed, this season, to score specialty yarns in the $11 range for as little as $2 a skein and it's been great. Can't wait to make more stuff for the business and for my Tuscan makeover for my house.

The baby blanket is a bit unconventional in color. Pale teal, purple, rich blue and a forest green make up the colorway. It's a discontinued yarn from a coupla seasons ago, but it's supersoft like their tweedy/heathered skeins. I'm either going to border it in purple or light teal... haven't decided yet. The forest green might work, too, but it'd have to be a Caron yarn since C&C never made anything that matches this. Total Cost: $3 or less not including 'sweat equity'.

Right now, the blankie is about 2 feet across. At 3 feet, I'll call it a day and I might get there using less than 12 oz of the varigated yarn. I love making baby blankets. Must be senility setting in.

The Ring: Make a loop on hook, Ch 6, Sl St to first Ch to form a ring.

Round One: Ch 3 to count as first DC, 2 DC into ring, Ch 2, 3 DC into ring, Ch 2, 3 DC into ring, Ch 2, 3 DC into ring, Ch 2, Sl St to top (third chain) of beginning Ch 3.

Round Two: Ch 3 to count as first DC, 2 DC, 2 DC into corner, Ch 2, 2 DC into corner. (3 DC, 2 DC into corner, Ch 2, 2 DC into corner) three times. Sl St to the top (third chain) of beginning Ch 3.

Round Three: Ch 3 to count as first DC, 4 DC, 2 DC into corner, Ch 2, 2 DC into corner. (7 DC, 2 DC into corner, Ch 2, 2 DC into corner), three times. 2 DC, Sl St to the top (third chain) of beginning Ch 3.

Round Four: Ch 3 to count as first DC, 6 DC, 2 DC into corner, Ch 2, 2 DC into corner. (11 DC, 2 DC into corner, Ch 2, 2 DC into corner), three times. 4 DC, Sl St to the top (third chain) of beginning Ch 3. Finish off.

Just keep going. It grows.

Doom-age

http://www.doommovie.com/

Too graphic for movie theatres? Is Karl nekkid? Is there a god?

I'm feeling all proud of myself. I finished the last 525 pages of "Possession: A Romance" by A.S. Byatt in my spares last night at work. Now I read fairly fast, but this is a dense book. Not that it's weighty, but it's very...British. Love that, actually, and it ended extremely well, for which I am ALWAYS pleased. I hate shitty endings, where all has to go wrong for someone to feel it's worthy literary fiction. What gets me about fiction at all is that I read between 325 and 500 pages an hour making a $25 dollar expenditure for a new novel ridculous. If I were on a fiction glut, I could wipe out $75-100 bucks in a day before my eyes crossed at that rate. Screw that. I wait for $4.95 at B/N. Cheaper than a magazine is good in my world anyday.

Heard the Steelers won.
Whoop.

Now, off to send good health and feel goods to Nimmie and hit the road for some power shopping and later, nappage.

Must pick out new book for today.

Started jotting Regency stuff again. Wish I had sticktoitiveness.

Happy B'day to Me, Agani Aniwaya

Happy B'day to Me!

I'm having a fair day. Tonight, family is going to sport lasagna for me! But, in the meantime, I'm drinking a Dew and listening to Sting and Jimmy Buffet on some sort of b'day celebration rotation.

I'm using my new omg power supply with my laptop. It cost a bloody fortune and pisses me off that I have to buy one after the third Dell I had shit itself. Frustrating. This one cost $40 more. Yep, that's right. $40.

Reading "The Celts" and "Gods of the Celts" but I also have "The Return of King Arthur", "Possession" and "Pompeii". Am I omnivorous? Oh yeah!

"DOOM" available Tues.
I work lots next week.
*yawn*

I can't stay awake.

No matter where you go
I will find you
In the place with no frontiers
No matter where you go
I will find you
If it takes a thousand years

No matter where you go
I will find you

Not that this song has anything to do with anything, I just popped in the cd this morning and it makes me think of a time when my grandmother would speak in Cherokee (Tsalagi) to avoid my mother or others knowing what she was saying to one of her younger sisters.

Working next week as much as 60 hrs covering the house and I hope it's a fine week. The only day I have scheduled off is Tues. I'm not sure I'm up for 60 hour workweeks anymore, but it's a shot.

Off to fall asleep. 2 comes early!

Song of the Shield-Wall

Note from "Little" Rory McGowen, CLM, Fyrdman of Calontir:
Huscarls are Saxon Axe-men, guards of the King, and a fighting Order of Calontir.

Hasten, oh sea-steed, over the swan-road,
Foamy-necked ship o'er the froth of the sea,
Hengest has called us from Gotland and Frisia
To Vortigern's country his army to be
We'll take our pay there in sweeter than silver;
We'll take our plunder in richer than gold,
For Hengest has promised us land for the fighting
Land for the sons of the Saxons to hold!

Hasten, oh fyrdsmen, down to the river
The dragonships come on the in-flowing tide
The linden-wood shield and the old spear of ash-wood
Are needed again by the cold water-side
Draw up the shield-wall, oh shoulder companions
Later whenever our story is told
They'll say that we died guarding what we call dearest,
Land that the sons of the Saxons will hold!

Hasten, oh Huscarls, north to the Dane-Law
Harold Hardrada's come over the sea
His longships he's laden with berserks from Norway
To gain Cnut's crown and our master to be
Bitter he'll find there the bite of our spear points
Hard-running Northmen too strong to die old
We'll grant him six feet, plus as much as he's taller
Of land that the sons of the Saxons will hold!

Make haste, son of Godwin, southward from Stamford
Triumph is sweet and your men have fought hard
But William the Bastard has landed at Pevensey
Burning the land you have promised to guard
Draw up the spears on the hilltop at Hastings
Fight 'til the sun drops and evening grows cold
And die with the last of your Saxons around you
Holding the land we were given to hold!

Optional: repeat first verse.

Nothing to write about...

I've got nothing to write about. Money woes are...subsiding just a tiny bit, I retrieved my JEEP (Whooo Hooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) It's not 100%, but it's like 90-95% and that's better than NO GO. No va...

I checked out the 4WD...I drove happily home!

It'll take a little gettin' used to, but the clutch is cool, all in all.

I'm watching a tattoo/ritual scarification show on Nasty Geographic channel and we're up to a tattoo convention in Oslo, Norway. Next is "Who Built Stonehenge" ish thingy.

I want a tat of a Confederate flag, tattered...with a superimposed Jolly Roger over it. I also crave some type of Grail/Soverignty/Mary/Mary Magdelena/Morrighan/Sophia and something based on Cernunnos/Herne. I have to find a way to get perhaps the Green Man on my skin, as well....we'll see. I want the Awen symbol at the top of my neck and the Celtic tree of life as an asstopper. OH...and that "9"...heh.

Ok, it's time for watching this show on ancient Pagan Celtic religions. *grins*
Right up my alley.

I'm going to be working a whole lot more in order to pay off bills and get my house repaired. I'll not be about as much. It's not withdrawal - it's a strong desire to sleep.

I'm creating new crochet designs, using a size L hook. I did a great skully yesterday. Taking only 9 rows...with a 10th in sc around in an I hook...I love it. It's like open work near your face, so that it's not too hot, yet it holds your hair perfectly. Like a Juliet style crown design, it's lovely. I was very pleased! If I get a chance to take some piccy's, I'll post up some of my lovely designs. Our website isn't up yet, but hey, I'm not shy!

OK, night night for now. Good posty. Will include some pic now:

The Business

“The Business!”

Can’t stop the signal…Gods, I love “Serenity”! I have a business license that has been flickering since 1989 and hasn’t jelled yet, but will so very soon. We’re checking out some new wholesale folks and re-establishing old business relationships. The focus of the business will still be New Age products still, but we’ll also have a Renaissance side.

Years ago, I had a business at the local huge flea market, and we made about $500 net a weekend in a time when I was making only $15 an hour as a nurse. Do the math…after my monstrous taxes, I was making more on the business working two days a week! Stupidity and yet another glitch in my ex-relationship led to me closing the shop. Foolish, foolish me. One of my old customers still runs a business there, doing what I used to, and she supports herself on it.

Had I looked closely or followed the signs in tarot readings and my astrology chart, I’d be in a storefront now and not standing on my feet hauling around 250 lb. men for 12 hours straight at night as a nurse.

I’m a dork.

Anyway, off to Wally World to see about fierce yarns and candy, maybe…Will write more later. Keep in mind that soon, perhaps by tomorrow, I’ll have a domain name chosen!

Testing The Word Feature

I’m using the new Word/Blogger feature that supports the Blogger Hobs that sit behind the scenes working frantically to convert my words to HTML (aka Magick Language No. 489,836). It seems to work nicely, with the exception of pictures. Growl.

Testing the posting of pics… “currently not supported”. Well, that sucks. If I could do that, all my crochet fun could be posted, but noooooo…..  argh. I’d take digi piccies of everything and post hats, fun, weirdness.

Happy New Year

Boston Bound

I may be going to Massachusetts! I gotta call Adair and Marin and see if they want to host a poor ol' witch for four or five days Midwinter. Brrrrr.... I need to call him tomorrow and see if I can get ahold of him via Azure Green.

Jeep Woes

Clutch...Clutch...I'm thinking of naming my Jeep "Serenity" cause I feel like Mal Reynolds. I don't want to curse her with a name that might precipitate trouble for her. I'd name her after a grand Civil War battle, but the truth is, it's all the same!

If she were white, I'd name her Shadowfax. Brown...Brega.

Oh well, I'll think of something.

Wish me luck it costs $250 or less.

The Boys of Summer
-Don Henley

Nobody on the road
Nobody on the beach
I feel it in the air
The summer’s out of reach
Empty lake, empty streets
The sun goes down alone
I’m drivin’ by your house
Though I know you’re not at home

But I can see you-
Your brown skin shinin’ in the sun
You got your hair combed back and your sunglasses on, baby
And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the boys of summer have gone

I never will forget those nights
I wonder if it was a dream
Remember how you made me crazy?
Remember how I made you scream
Now I don’t understand what happened to our love
But babe, I’m gonna get you back
I’m gonna show you what I’m made of

I can see you-
Your brown skin shinin’ in the sun
I see you walkin’ real slow and you’re smilin’ at everyone
I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the boys of summer have gone

Out on the road today, I saw a black flag sticker on a cadillac
A little voice inside my head said, "don’t look back. you can never look back."
I thought I knew what love was
What did I know?
Those days are gone forever
I should just let them go but-

I can see you-
Your brown skin shinin’ in the sun
You got that top pulled down and that radio on, baby
And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the boys of summer have gone

I can see you-
Your brown skin shinin’ in the sun
You got that hair slicked back and those wayfarers on, baby
I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the boys of summer have gone

In 1984, I started a new life...after dying on Sept 7, 1984...waking up and changing EVERYTHING. My kids all went in and bought me a pr of vintage Wayfarers and wrote a note with the chorus and their hand outlines, signed. They may never understand the paper means so much, but the glasses are, indeed, a way for me to shed a skin and start over again. It's time. I did it in 1985...why not now?

God/dess, I love you guys. More than life itself...

Also, the more I think about NZ-ing it, the more I'm convinced....YEAH!
See below:
Drunk Santas cause New Zealand mayhem

Forty drunken Santas have rampaged through central Auckland, stealing from stores and assaulting security guards in a protest against the commercialisation of Christmas.
The New Zealand Herald reports some of the Santas threw beer bottles, one tried to climb the mooring rope of a cruise ship and a security guard was punched during the fracas.

"They came in, said 'Merry Christmas' and then helped themselves," convenience store staff member Changa Manakynda said.

The newspaper says the event organiser, Alex Dyer, had warned the antics would only stop when someone was arrested.

It links the incident to "Santarchy".

Santarchy (www.santarchy.com) records protests going back around 10 years in the United States, with participants marking Christmas in anti-commercial manner involving street theatre, pranks and public drunkenness.

Police say identification is a key issue as they try to sort out which of the 40 men and women had done what.

"With a number of people dressed in the same outfit, it was difficult for any witnesses to confirm the identity of who was doing what," Senior Sergeant Matt Rogers said.

Merry Yule/Book Reading

I've been in a fiction mood lately. I went to B/N and did get two new books, one of which I read last night and sadly, even though I usually adore Jayne Ann Krentz, this one was a yawner. "Truth or Dare" was a 1.5 hour read and only marginally worth the $5.95 I paid for the hardcover.

"From Publishers Weekly
Zoe Luce, psychic interior decorator, has finally settled down to domestic life in Whispering Springs, Ariz., with private investigator Ethan Truax after their tempestuous courtship in Krentz's previous romantic thriller, Light in Shadow. However, sinister cobwebs of energy confront her when she enters certain rooms, threatening to make her lose her tenuous grip on sanity. Meanwhile, Arcadia Ames, Zoe's old friend from Candle Lake Manor Psychiatric Hospital, fears the husband she sacrificed her identity to escape has finally tracked her down. Krentz never fully explains exactly why Grant, Arcadia's husband, wants her dead, relying instead on facts revealed in Light in Shadow. Indeed, from beginning to end, this sequel feels more like an appendix to the last book than a novel in its own right, as Krentz forgoes a strong central plot to focus on the kind of warm and fuzzy details about Zoe and her Whispering Springs friends that most novels relegate to the epilogue. She fattens the story with pizza dinners, heartfelt talks and proffered slices of lemon meringue pie, but scrimps when the action picks up and offers limp, far-fetched conclusions to the book's various subplots. Though no one will begrudge the goodhearted characters from Whispering Springs their tasty tidbits, in her rush to get to the happy endings, Krentz leaves readers hungry for a more substantial story.

Yawn.

"Digital Fortress" by Dan Brown was a two hour read and worth the .59 cents I paid at Goodwill. It's also very timely. I hear Georgie Porgie is now monitoring international calls without wiretaps. Look the message is: Don't be a terrorist.

Beyond that, Merry Yule to Everyone. I'm working on a scarf for no one in particular and I gave two away today. I'm hoping that I can get the two recipients to model them for pics for the business. Both are gorgeous early 20's chicklets and wonderous friends that I went to NIN with...groovy wenches.

Also carrying around: Magical Reiki, A Witches Guide to Faery Folk, the NIV, (MY PRECIOUS) The Lord of the Rings Reader's Companion (omg, omg, omg....my Yule giftie to ME), LOTR, The 3 A.M. Epiphany and Fun and Funky Crochet.

I bought oddball, useful presents this year and hope everyone loves me for it. I just want them to be eh eh happy.

http://thecrochetdude.blogspot.com/ is fun as usual. I'm crocheting up like mad and his additions to the 2006 "Pattern a Day" calender are great! Go Drew!

I'll be back later for additions, perhaps. Hugs....

Amoral Imperative

To sleep, perchance to dream...

More Regency dreams and I woke up to talk to a bud OL for a bit about a rock group name, Amoral Imperative. Actually, I told her we should restart our Spies OL game and use that for a mission name for my character, Tatiana.

Off to Barnes and Noble to score some sleezy priced fiction. I'm in dire need. I feel it. Feel right there. That's a $4.95 hardback NYT bestseller jones. Big one. *laughs*

Christ! Missing everyone.

Screams like Kong. (but is not ugly like Kong)

"According to study conductors at Victoria and Otago Universities, participants described the "typical Kiwi" as fun-loving, risk-taking, intellectually curious, open-minded, friendly, affectionate, happy and calm. NZ was one of the few nations of the 49 surveyed to give a fairly accurate assessment of their national character.
(6 October 2005)"

I gotta get to NZ. Clicky the linky dots at the top and look at the cow. F'king hilarious.

I forget who gave me this pic, but the chick who does these is AWESOME. She has the bestest grabs and such online. Mwah!

www.elessarsrealm.com had a great link to a karl urban site i joined but they inactivated me after a week since I didn't post. WTF? That blows my mind. I work, for christsakes. Some humans hold down real jobs and are off line for ohh god...like hours at a time.

Sighs.

I'm in a foul mood over other shit. A GF's brother should not be making whiney half-assed veiled threats on one's cell phone when he's clueless as to the real world for the most part. The FBI takes offense.

So, I don't want to work, I want to be rich, and I'm a Disgruntled Malcontent.

Well, I'm going to lie back down, dream some more of my Regency Karl dream and hope for some napping time. I know work's gonna call and I need to hit a craft store for art supplies.

This F)*(*^(&^&*%^(*&)*&)_*_)_+_ Hurts!

Well, I felt I had to give you a cool link to go to...clicky on the flashing dots...'cause the rest of this may be a whiny ranting bitch fest. "WhinyRantingBitchFest Yule 2005" does not equate to Lilith Faire, but I'm sure there are similarities. For one thing, the organizer is a woman.

My right ankle, demonically possessed, continued to hurt and I called my doc, who, being saintlike in his availability to be called on in odd moments, said, "Sure...come on down. You're the next contestant on...FUCKING PAIN!"

Ok...*deep breathes*

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

My doc taketh out the evil fluids from my ankle and instilleth a concocation that is to ease it....

Holy F'king Shit...omg this hurts!

Big old hematoma where the needle access was....huge. Then the other half of the ankle is all swollen anyway. Oh! Let's not forget the tendon pain sprinkles.

I have made two awesome crochet scarves this past week and forgot them, or they'd be displayed proudly on the screen.

So, here's another Karl avie giftie sent to me to you...
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Ok, I'm outta here to rescue my ankle from the ice I'm holding on it. Ouch.

Took multiple meds per MD's instructions. Getting thankfully sleeply.

Everyone do a work dance and pray I have a job come Wednesday!

Rock Star....

I am, indeed, living like a rock star. I danced in pj's...to "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" last night in a performance moment with my ex. "So now I'm praying for the end of time..." (laughs). We also did a duet to "Wasted Time" by the Eagles...our theme song. And it isn't. If we two didn't have our whatever whenever back so g'damn long ago it wouldn't matter to count, then this would never be. And this...this is good.

Hugs to those who are at normalcy today.

I'll be back there "Come Monday.." and I'll use all of this setting for a novel. I know I will.

Home from the Party

The Jeep ran beautifully down to Hilton Head and back. It was a lovely weekend. I slept and slept...I felt guilt, but not to any horrid degree. I hurt a tendon in my right leg and I'm to the point of calling HR and finding out how to restart another intermittant FMLA form. I have to call the doc tomorrow, call in a message for 18 hours worth of time and whew...I made enough to cover some bills and a little Yule.

The Mardi Gras party was FANTASTIC! Such a birthday! Happy b'day sweet Shelle...You are fantastic and deserved every second....

Now I have a wealth of great pics and happy meeeeee....

Worrisome Lonesome Winsome Regret

God...I am a procrastinator.

Highest order.
Highest water.

I have taxes to do, forms to find, an attorney to track down and hold to an agreement and I'm leaving in two days (after days of classes) for a trip.

Now the trip, that's interesting. Short, close and sweet. I can drive home to check on the pups at any time

I'm not prepared, but I'm getting there. I'll have a bag packed by tonight. I'm lost on the New Orleans theme, but I have some beads and a cup...and a mask. I'm bringing my laptop so there will be "Moon over Bourbon Street" and "Sympathy for the Devil" to be had. How do you do a N.O. theme? Flood the house. Float a dead body or two by? Flash your tits?

Let's do an assassin theme. I'll make a t-shirt of my fav. assassin (Kirill) and I'll wear it all weekend, drooling.

It'd work.

NaNoWriMo

WHOOT~Squeeeee~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

National Novel Writing Month is officially over and I managed to get into the 60K's before I quit to walk away for two weeks. It was...ahem...in my best interest. I think I'll dabble with the fantasy novel I've been trying to write since 1991 (yeah, I'm that f'king old) and/or just work on finishing Yule gifties.

I went to see the Doc this morning and he injected me with four (omg) shots of Decadron. Ou-fucking-ch. My right shoulder is a pincushion, but I'm praying for relief in 1-6 days. At the moment, I make Quasimodo look like a runway model.

Got to work 12 hours tonight, so it's time for me to officially call it a sleepy nappy time.

"When In Rome"
Where can a sick man go
When he can't choke down the medicine the old doc knows
A specialist came to town, but he stays at home
Sayin', "No one knows, so I don't"Honey,
when in Rome

Where can a teacher go
Wherever she thinks people need the things she knows
Hey those books you gave us look good on the shelves at home
And they'll burn 'em in the fireplaceTeacher,
when in Rome

Grab a blanket, sister
We'll make smoke signals
Bring some new blood It feels like we're alone
Grab a blanket, brother
So we don't catch coldFrom one another
I wonder if we're stuck
in Rome

Where can a dead man go
The question with an answer only dead men know
But I'm gonna bet they never really feel at home
If they spent a lifetime learning
How to live in Rome

- Nickelcreek

Reading the "Serenity" script and planning an online RPG.
Soon I'll introduce MJ, my primary character, complete with pics, I hope.

Hugs to all who've put up with me and my novel thing this past month.
God/dess Bless!

NANO Madness Subsides

Finished a few days ago and Nimster just crossed the line. So goddamned glad it's done and now, now...I get to clean it up, add 100,000 words and get with finding an agent. I'm so old. She's only 25 and has years of writing ahead. I've WASTED years in that time.

So, here's the thing...I think I'll shelve the space opera for two weeks and grab it back up after I have pondered what I'm writing next. Carry about the new Palm and make some random jottings....etc.

Oh I am soooo glad I don't have to work today. Wish I had one more day off, but I'm PF'd I think. Yeah, PF'd.

I'd re-watch all three LOTR's and get back to ME. I might anyway, but I doubt it.

More later, I pray...If I'm not distracitificated. I'm cruising Karl LJ's...I'm so naughty.

Starting My Own Religion

I have always been a firm believer in multi-dimensional space. I have also pondered the idea that anything envisioned, is real...somewhere. And, to icing this religiosity moment, I believe that the more people who can 'see' it in their minds or have believed it, strengthens the reality of it.

So, Jesus Christ, Cthulu, Legolas and King Arthur have alot goin' 'bout now.

I need a name for my religion.

NaNo Doneness

"'Ere I am, mindin' me own bidness, mind you, and up walks this lolly of a lass..."

I'm done!

Legolas Fan Girl Squeeeeee!

Ok. I'm lying. I have 50K out of ohhh...a 125K book, but I came, I saw, I crisised, I arc-ed, I denumounted, I wiggled, I blasted, I hovered and I...made it over 50K.

Right now, I have a little song and dance for you. It's more of an anthem, but it involved shaking ones ass...

"I went over 50K, so I shake my round booo-tay!"

Not Shakespeare quality, but it's the best my sleepless brain can manage.

Now I have the dilemma of friendfromNCintown vs buying food.

sighs.

Off to get paper paycheck (wtf are those, anymore?) and get busy. This whole Thanksgiving, steal a country from a people with a few trinkets and smallpox blankets gets to me, yah know? And don't get me started about St. Paddy and those fucking Irish snakes...

Bold and Beautiful, as always,

Today's Accomplishments

Nausea...treatment, sleep and Phenergan. Shitfuckdamn. I hate this. Will it ever be 'right'?

Watched a few hours of "Firefly" episodes in the background and wrote part of a bar scene that might open the book or hit within just a bit of the beginning of the book.

I went to Office Max and had three notebooks made with spiral bindings...two of two hundred pages and one of one hundred. Gorgeous speckly paper! Far far cheaper than buying notebooks. I also found a Waterman pen that Shelle might get for b'day gifty. Gorgeous!

Well, I'm off to bed soon. Tomorrow comes and I hope to get some writing done. DL'ing gag reel right now and have to leave puter on...hope its safe.

NaNoWriMo

A quicky posty to let everyone know word count has hit 14K. With hard editing, that might drop to 13K, but it'll still keep and sustain me through next Wednesday morning when I get out of work.

Pissed I'll not be a house stupidvisor this Sunday, but I am slated to become a PICC nurse. How's that for cool?

(trust in me, it is)

Off to bed.

NaNo Madness

My hand is freaking killing me as is my head, but I've spent over two hours typing on Nano stuff and have posted 3500 ish words towards my 50K. No, it's not much, but I have a headache now and am going to drug myself into sweet oblivion. I spent Samhain watching "Empire Records" and "The Breakfast Club" with my kids, which was actually kinda fun. Good soundtracks and better stories. My boys are in love with Ally Sheedy, which is only natural, since they love goth chicks.

The music in my head is some weirdass combo of NIN and Toby Keith's "What Happens Down in Mexico...". Don't ask. I was despirate for music on the way home and flip and flopped like a fish.

Help.

No one's online tonight. Nim ran off early and crashed or something. Eryn, who usually comes around is not answering. CJ was on earlier, but I had to leave him despite the great Foamy postcard! I think I'll drop a line to Circe and hit the potty and the sack.

Work tried to call me in. On Samhain. Not.

Piece of Work

Jimmy Buffett - Piece Of Work Lyrics (with Toby Keith)

I'm a piece of work, I'm iron and lace
I'm shy, I'm right up in your face
I'm all dumbfounded, stubborn as an ass
Sharp as an arrow in a pile of glass.
I'm a sweetheart, genius, reckless jerk.
Lord, have mercy, I'm a piece of work.

Well the Lord made me on a long thin limb
Made sure I'd remember him or her
In the middle of a long dark night
Creation crazy, death-sheet white
Made in the image of a lion shocked lamb
I am who the hell I am
Even better, bad to worse,
Down to the letter, I'm a piece of work.

I'm a piece of work I'm an angels fiend
Bathed in lavender and gasoline
Scared brave, shallow in an ink black well
Lightly browned in the fires of hell
Wicked, holy, full on fake
Best known for my big mistake
I'm zen wise, peaceful, gone berserk
Good God almighty, What a piece of work.

I'm a dreadful sight, I just don't care
Spent all morning pull out my hair
Woke at dawn with a crazy spin
I was half the day trying to glue back in
Mother, bloody mary, please
Wipe that smile right off your knees
I'm the CEO of the mailroom clerks
Lord have mercy, I'm a piece of work.

I'm a piece of work, I'm a love sick boy
Cloth cap, caviar, and corduroy
All over the map, justa lost in space
With a filthy mind and a choirboy's face
Heels up, head down, straight on through
Watch out woman, I'm a get to you
I'm a gladiator with a mind to irk
I'm a see you later, I'm a piece of work.

(Jimmy Buffet feat. Toby Keith)

Livin' Like A Rock Star

"It hurts sometimes more than we can bear. If we can live without
passion, maybe we'd know some kind of peace. But we would be hollow.
Empty rooms, shuttered and dank. Without passion, we'd be truly dead."
-Spike?

Hotlanta and we walked about, taking pics of Centennial Square where the Olympic were held. It's bloody nice to have a relative with connections to hotels and a total of $26 bucks spent for what would be $600 of rooms...

There was this bitch, I have no other way to describe her with the possible exception of 'pretentious twat' which, though accurate, might be a bit harsh.

Adrian wanted to see a piece of artwork on PUBLIC display in the Chamber of Commerce building...no biggie...and she started in on me and my friend about how he COULDN'T step the two ft to look at the goddamned thing...

On the way out the door, Adrian, looking for all the world like a young executive from the CNN building across the way, leans back in and LOUDLY says, "I'd like to thank you for your hospitality...I haven't had such in a COON'S age..." in his best Brannaugh voice from 'Wild Wild West'.

Needless to say, she was an Atlantian African American fucking racist bitch. And it provoked the first bit of racism I've seen in Adrian in forever. He has had AA dates and is sooooo tolerant of all but sheer ignorance and fucking idiocy. She embodied both.

Oh my...

I didn't get to see her reaction, but he said it was a squeaky sputter. He is Spike, down inside folks, and we love him for it.

Atlanta in this ritzy area is clean, hilly and nice. Trees and such adorn the place and I'm not disappointed. Nothing to MOVE to, mind you, but something to enjoy while here.

NIN tonight...will update appropriately when I recover.

Work/Writing and Thing that go 'Crawl' in the Night

I work some 58 hours from Sun to Sun this week...including the 8 hours tonight...sighs. Some weeks I'm insane...infuckingsane. Only 4 hours of OT to show for that effort thanks to ridiculous breaks in weeks on the schedules, but I have the next two weeks off and I'm going to see NIN and write alot on my NaNo novel (best laid plans of mice and men).

I'm praying for call offs though I need the money like a fiend needs what, blood and bones?

"Doom" update...well, I was sooooo freaking sleepy I nearly dozed twice (getting less than 10 good hours of sleep in a week, even when you're manicky, will do that to you), but it was just a lovely gorefest! Karl Urban could simply steal me away and I'd willingly go like a little lamb to slaughter. "Bleet."

GFNim is ready to split a seam over Sean's new fluff. Or, as Karl would say, "Fanny". I told her to never fear and go w/her plan to deal with it in fictional writing. Yep, learned 'fanny' can refer to quim in NZ. Man, they've got alot of words I'd have to watch when I get there or I'd be getting into all sorts of trouble. *laughs* Stupid American that I am....

Friday night, I felt a supposed eight-legged creature touch my bare thigh when I was lying in the dark in bed. It was nearly dawn anyway, with me being up all night. I've been wary ever since. I despise spiders. Passionately! With prejudice...

So, last night, while deciding to cheat on NaNo to get a few days ahead (I admit it. Mea Culpa...etc, etc...), I found myself so sleepy that I only managed 500 words and crashed. Granted, it was 4 or 5 am and my alarm was set for 0730, but hey! I'm manicky at the moment. Who needs sleep?

Guess I did.

Heavy guilt on the Yule list of things I want to make for friends but it's the end of October and I'm not about to crochet November away when novels are to be written!

Just saw a lovely screenshot of Sean Bean's cock. Applause Mr. Bean, applause! And if it's that size in a cold shower room, you can keep it to yourself when it gets hard. I have no place save between my tits to put it....

More maybe later, but for now, I'm going to try to catch up a 1666 word day to buy me one off in November...*mwahahahaha*

Sleepy All Day

I am poorly recovering from having to take a phenergan yesterday and today. Work called early yest. morning and again at five pm wanting me to work. I did get some money for last coupla weeks work and that helped....at least calm my worries.

Tomorrow, I have to go to Wally World and pick up some fud.

"Kingdom of Heaven" is on dvd and "Batman" will be next Tues, so I think I know what my next week will be spend doing...unless Aaron gets me the set of "Firefly". Ahhhh... If Twin ever gets me Sharpe vids, I'll be all spaz for weeks.

More backstory written in the form of names. The 'Serenity' movie is for inspiration. Can't wait til I get to see 'Doom'. Oct 21st!

Novel Madness

Crocheted a tiny little international orange dice bag today and had intentions of starting a brown/beiges tote bag and/or a medicine bag for my backpack. I culled out some yarns and pondered a dice bag in the browns of the Browncoats of "Serenity" the game.

I'm researching and still firm on the Space Opera idea. I would groove to the spy thing too, but I'd be so drooly over a potential Kirill type, I'd get nothing but sex written. Tatiana having sex. More sex. Sex again. Sex w/pain. Sex w/pleasure...see? Perv.

Tomorrow will be spent on either shopping for various things with Crafties and Xmass/Yulies and Business in mind or hanging w/Adrian and living like a rock star for a few hours over the afternoon. Adrian is taking a young disadvantaged woman who is trying to elevate herself from existing amongst "thugs" to a place where she feels good about herself and not seeing herself as some guy's "cracker 'ho". He's going to take her to Godiva and give his new friend a huge chocolate dipped strawberry for not decking a worthless Hilton co-worker who was assaulting her. The jerk employee got fired (thank all the Gods).

Saturday, I play Seventh Sea...A Daughter of Sophia.

In the midst, I'm backstorying for my NaNoWriMo 50K sprint in November. Music being established.

NaNoWriMo

Sea-Fever

J. Masefield

I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,

And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,

And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,

And a grey mist on the sea's face and a grey dawn breaking.

I must down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide

Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;

And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,

And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must down to the seas again to the vagrant gypsy life.

To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife;

And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,

And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Signed up for NaNoWriMo again, bought a second copy of the book "No Plot, No Problem" since the first in in hiding and I'm going to try to write again...a novel in a month. I have this thing about the word "gypsy" and combined with Urban, it became a business name some 15 years ago. Now, I spelled it wrong on the business letterhead and license deliberately, but that was me at the time and I was very proud.
I need to sleep....*laughs* Work, all 12 hours or more of it, comes in three hours and I'm wide awake and doing writer's exercises. Wtf is wrong with me?
Serenity
Greetings and Hallucinations to All~
Had a hell of a day yesterday. One day off, fill it with living. A trip to B/N didn't gleen anything, but I'm broke anyway. It was an hour or so of distracting amusement, with Winter and I checking out the Playgan section and finding some decent Pagan books and some old reprints. So much of modern Paganism isn't history, research, interesting tidbits from the past, or anything of the sort. It's all about "How to Turn Your Boyfriend Into a Toad." WTF fun is there in that? If he's so reprehensible, it sounds like you've managed to turn him into one in the course of your lovefest and the thing would be to get away from him. Now. Hellllooooo...it shouldn't take the God/dess to pound this into your head.
Dinner at a great little local restaurant. We started with a 'reservation for ten' and it became sixteen in no time. For the first time in oh, years...I almost stood up and hit another human being. Spike M. was showing his absolute dickheadedness being all whiny pissy about there being 'a crowd' and he tossed something at me, hitting me in the face/mouth. Well, I was the resident matriarch at a table of Gamers, many of whom actually did some military time or are trained in martial arts.
Important safety tip for people at a restaurant where the staff loves you so much they've kept the place open late at night for a b'day party for your kid and gave you all this free food...When you encounter the Mama...show some respect.
I managed, when I realized I was on my feet (oh yeah) reaching for a heavy casserole dish with one hand and a knife with the other, I was going to jail and this sonofashit wasn't worth it. I even managed to pass my anger off as some near food-fight humor, but no one fully believed it but some didn't see exactly what happened.
So, we get to the movie theatre, the guys (some 16-20) had saved me center seat in a crowded theatre cause word is, that's my seat. I graciously accepted, sent hugs and loves out to everyone, and got all comfy. Now, one of the males asked what happened...and I told them. Oh shit, oh hell...two stood up and two more were going ofter Spike M. who had also come to the movie but was sitting up and away from me. I had already gotten promises from Winter and his big, Marine-ish buddy that they'd be cool til after the movie.
After getting my son's and my own bands of merry space pirates under chill, the movie was fantastic and great fun. I had only recently been turned onto "Firefly" and think its a GD shame it was cancelled, but I will see this one again when I'm off from work next week. Oh my delish space pirate fantasies (fueled by "The Privateers") are back in wild order fighting it out w/ my Kirill ones. Laughs. Sicko, I know.
And...then the Doom trailer! OMG...licks movie screen! Karl looked great and there were more shots I'd not seen. If you're a Sci-Fi, Action or Karl/Rock fan, oh get your ass in gear to get tickets. I think I'll try to be at the 1pm show unless I've stupidly scheduled myself to work...I don't think so, tho. Newp! Karl, I shall be present and center...
So, I work the next few days and pray I can sleep. I'm having a few probs there, but hanging on. I'll see what happens.
Holding hopeful over $.
Return To Work
I managed to finish four hours tonight back at work...quickly, efficiently, more so that I thought my rusty self could. I've not been pointman for a module in a while, having served (swerved) as a stupidvisor for awhile before getting sick.
I did ok, thought. Startlingly enough, it might have been pure, mainlined adrenaline. The Danskos helped.
I've been lost in Kirill and the character for days in my head. I have real life ponderings, but for fantasies, Twin O' Mine, set off some hard core (NC-18, XXX) level lusts and I'm coping...barely.
Tomorrow, I'm off from work (and work the next three after that) but I get to eat din-din at a great Greek place and see Serenity.
Afghan progress is slow, but I'm considering ways to speed up the process.
Doom in ohhh....3 weeks. Merry Samhain to me!
Crocheting Madness
Started a new project....
It's an afghan with squares in Tuscan colors. At this point, I'm proclaiming it to be a Yule giftie. That keeps me going with it. I can tell myself I'm not keeping it, and will continue to work on it. I also have a request for a purpley snood to match Ren Faire garb.
The guys will be getting wonderfully long, fluffy yarn scarves and I have made up about 25 - 30 hats for the business.
Fantasies and Daydreams
Ok, I admit it. I live inside my head about 79% of the time, most of that in some fantasy or another. I dream when I drive, making cd's to be a backbeat to whatever's in my head. Tooling around in a lifted Jeep makes driving a challenge. Jeeps have drift. That's a polite way of saying they fucking wander here and there in their lanes. Keep you alert. Keeps you sacred.
In my head, these days, I'm in some far northern place in ancient Britain, a Celt raised during occupation married to a Romano-Brit.
Toss on top of that my current reading material, "The Bourne Idenity"...I'm never denying my obsession w/Kirill.
Either way, my brains writing, reading, playing 'round...and I'm ashiver a good deal of the time thinking naughty thoughts while shopping for dog food. Not taking the time to write the fan fics...sorry wench that I am.
Brynna and Lucius: The Caesar pics help and I fumbled/stumbled across a site where the chick has almost every screen (scream!) cap. Her name would be Luciana...Lady of Light. Laughs darkly. Anyway...
Here's a treat and I'm outta here.
In the immortal words of a sweetie I know, "Oh my."
New Denim Bag
This linky is good and the bags there are cute and decently priced. I took a huge pair of bluejeans and made my first denim bag in years. I deliberately chose the jeans in a women's size 24 (and they were BIG 24's, it seemed) in order to get the depth and width of a messanger bag, which is what I wanted.
I found a finding, a wonderful Celtic/Greek looking two piece closure I bought to close a cloak for Ren Faire garb. Since the front dips a bit...my bottom seam, although unholy sturdy, tilts the bag just a wee bit. The clasp adds a nice decorative touch. I got wild with stamps and many colored Sharpies. Beyond that, I broke out my acrylics paints and did some paint accents. So, moon, stars, compass rose, flowers, dragonflies, flowers...and down the fly in front, all five elements of Chinese astrology. Now I've got to figure out how to get a foreign stamp to stay safely on it...
Off to do a bit more embellishment.
Return To Normalcy
Found "Doing the Best that I Can (Berlin's Burning) last night while online. Goddessend! I need to make a CD before I get behind the wheel of a Jeep!
Returning to normalcy.
Tis a Dark Night in the Day.
"Rome" Week on the History Channel. So many emotions...So many...The BanDrui in me despises them. The Italian in me holds secret pride. The woman in me was so torn, even at one point in this life, that I forgo any thought of taking a male one as a friend unless I find him physically repugnant. There's somethin' about a Latin lover. Old myth.
Laughs.
Hugs to friends and family who have supported me through this.
Mwah!
The World Is A...
Vampire, Madhouse...
And I am oh so sick and tired of every place that I know...(Concrete Blonde throbs in the background).
Fucking Karl Urban...
My obsession. I dragged my ass away from watching "Demons..." for the umpteenth time. I'm all into Rock Star:INXS (first reality show to catch my attention, gimme a break), and I'm pushing for JD to win. Why? Cause he's best? For Fuck Sake No. He favors Karl, who, btw, for the uneducated, looks like an old bf that I willingly (read: gladly - only man who ever hit me) gave up as an uninitiated young wench of questionable sanity.
Here I am, certainly not a soul he'd notice, wishing I was. Laughing at the absurdity of that wish.
Still not at work. Still surviving on credit cards and my winning smile. Sick as a puppy up til today. Didn't sleep much to speak of. Very manic night. Valium didn't squelsh the shit throbbing in my head last night. God! I screamed, ached, hurt...The arthritis is a cruel mistress. Have a script for Gold. Christ and the angels! Gold. What sort of intriguing mouth sores will I pop up w/ over this travesty. Thanks to Adrian for going w/me. It made it make sense. I miss him. I'm going home soon.
Can't write. Can't think. Can't can't. Know what I mean? Listened to NIN today. Lyrics making to goddamn much sense. That's when it gets funny. Just before the shit starts talking to you through music, odd book choices (Arthur, LOTR today!), or the radio, you hear the rustle. If you listen.
Coldplay in my head and too much worry about the fucking taxes on my mind!
Rain?
